Talking "Measure Up" and other slang

Hello all! This is my very first post to this forum, and I have to say that I'm very impressed with the abilities of all here!

I do lots of translations from English to Spanish and vice versa for our church bulletin, and every so often I need to translate English slang phrases into their Spanish equivalents. Our Spanish readers are overwhelmingly from northern Mexico.

My latest problem is with the phrase "to measure up" in English. What would be a Spanish equivalent to that?

Also, can any of you suggest a good online slang/phrasebook that I can use for a quick lookup?

    Thank you!
