I will post a pun from each of my three favourite witty writers

    - Oscar Wilde:
“Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go.”

    - William Shakespeare, from "The two gentlemen of Verona"

    Speed: What’s the unkindest tide?
Launce: Why, he that’s tied here, Crab, my dog.
    ----------------------------------------
    - Winston Churchill
I couldn't find a pun from sir Winston - and I am sure there are many, so here goes this anecdote instead

George Bernard Shaw (to Winston Churchill):
'Am reserving two tickets for you for my premiere. Come and bring a friend - if you have one.'
    Churchill's reply:
'Impossible to be present for the first performance. Will attend second - if there is one.'

Very good! I like Sir Winston's reply! He was a master of dry humor.

You know, I was just thinking on starting a thread on "dry humour" -since I haven't started any, and now you happen to mention it in your entry. So see you soon in my new thread!

Great idea. I recently mentioned "dry humor" to another member and he did not know what it was, that is, the expression. I wonder what "dry humor or humour" is in Spanish?

I heard that the man one who invented the door knocker got a No-bell prize

Truly, my dear young friends, you are a chosen generation. I hope you will never forget it.
