    Hi there, I was wondering who can help me with this legal phrase: "The real heart of the case." Could it be something like: "El verdadero factor determinante en la causa" (?)

    Hi Lis, I think that "El verdadero factor determinante en la causa" is correct, maybe you can exclude "verdadero", "El factor determinante en la causa" will be less literal but retains the meaning.

    Otra opción:

    "la base del reclamo" (si son hechos)

    "el sustento legal/jurídico del reclamo" (si se trata del derecho aplicable al caso)
