I am a Certified Translator in English and in French and an Attorney-at-Law (once upon a time I studied way too much), and I have a problem with certain legal expressions which are very clear and very much used in Argentina, but unfortunately they are not "preferred" by some foreign readers.

    The expressions are the following:

    1. De conformidad con (pursuant to)
    2. Con posterioridad a (following)
    3. Con anterioridad a (prior to)

Since in this forum we have the opportunity of receiving the valuable opinions of translators living in different countries, I would very much appreciate your cooperation.

    Thanks in advance!!

Hi remainder. The expressions you wrote are actually the same I normally use, and are perfectly acceptable in Venezuela for legal texts purposes. You could use other expressions such as “In accordance with” (de confiormidad con”) instead of “pursuant to” yet they would not be more or less valid than those you suggested

    Hope it helped
    Best regards

    Thanks, Hebe!

What about the expressions in Spanish? Are they clear in your country? Would you "prefer" other ones?

Hi remainder , actually, those are exactly the expressions that I prefer and that are most commonly used in formal texts in my country

    Kind regards
