Please, can you explain me how to start working as a traslator and where can i look for companies to work for them?

I am looking for the same. I want to become a translator, how does one pursue this as a career?
Hello Anneliese9 and susana!!
How are you??
I read your questions, and I think there are many possible answers!!!
In my opinion, if you haven't studied anything related to translating or interpreting, you shoud... Maybe a seminar, to see if you really like it or, at least, to have a better idea of this rewarding and diversed field...
Where are you from?? Maybe there are lots of places you can go and find out about seminars, workwhops, among others.
Hope I could help!!! If you have more questions, I'll be happy to answer and give my opinion!!
Hello, not sure how it works in your countries but in Poland, where I live, you have to either finish applied linguistics or some philology (I'm doing English Philology) or gradute from Law or Medicine and being a specialist in your area do some advanced courses in the language you want to use for your translating job. One way or another you need to do some adittional courses later on connected strictly with translation or interpreting, which is a really long way before you get the job.
Good Day to Everybody;
This is my first post to this forum. I am happy to learn about translation and the postings.
Would someone be interested in working as a translator for me to translate my product catalogue from English to Spanish and possibly also to Portuguese?
Thank you
Cary R.

Hello again!
First of all thanks everyone for your reply. I am from Spain.
Does someone work in Spain as a translator?
Hello All.
For those of you who are Professional Translators, you can send your information to Trusted Translations at Job for translators. You will be required to submit a test as a sample of your work.
I recommend beginners start with pro-bono work. There are many NGOs and Non-Profits that work with volunteer translators and it's a very good way of gaining experience.
I also recommend reading a good book such as 'Becoming a Translator' and 'A Practical Guide for Translators'.
Best wishes.
