Thread: Medical Term for blue skin

Hi there!
Does anybody know the technical term (probably of latin origin) that doctors use when your skin turns blue? (When extremely cold...)

¿Will 'cianótico' or 'amoratado' fit your text? It is usually used in medicine when skin turns blue with cold.

There's no special term that I know of, at least in English.

I thought cianótico was used when you are turning blue due to lack of oxygen, but not cold. Amoratado might work better, but I would say just "pale/bluish/gray".

Your are quite right. I goofed. Cyanosis refers to slighty bluish colour of the skin due to pressure of abnormal amounts of reduced hemoglobin en the blood

Hola.
Cyanotic o cianótico actually refers to decreased oxygenation of hemoglobin in the blood. One could have a normal hemoglobin but still be cyanotic.
En cuanto a la pregunta original...me parece que "amoratado(a) del frío" sería perfecto.
