I am planning on getting a tattoo in spanish and have been trying to translate a phrase. But I have found many different translations ...... just wondered what you guys think and why you think what you do

The phrase is " A light heart lives long"

A light heart lives long: Irish Proverb.

I think it means that if you let yourself be burdened by worries, you will have more stress, and therefore a shorter lifespan. Someone with a heavy heart is sad or depressed so a light heart should be the opposite.

Literalmente: "Un corazón iluminado vive más".

Light is used here in the sense of not burdened by sadness or negative feelings; i.e. happy, cheerful, positive, and full of optimism. In Spanish you'd probably need more than the direct equivalent liviano to express the meaning of the quote. But, nonetheless, I think most people will understand it just like that.

    Un corazón liviano* vive más.

*ligero is a synonym too, but it has a hue of idle or superficial.

I agree it should read as a light heart person so I'd use un corazon liviano vive un largo tiempo its longer but the correct translation try looking up scriptural meanings and i'm sure you will find a nice translation.
