    "I need a place to crash"

    Esta oracion significa "Necesito un lugar para dormir" pero porque "crash" y no "sleep"?

    ¿Es mas informal? o dependiendo de la situacion en la que te encuentres se usa uno en vez del otro.

    Significa un lugar para dormir y exactamente es más informal que "sleep".

    Depending on context "I need a place to crash" could mean to be looking for somewhere to sleep or relax, or a place to stay.

    It's a phrase that dates back to the "hippie" era, in the days of "pads", or living quarters. "I need a place to crash" meant that one needed a place to live, obviously to sleep, but also to stay for awhile, a few hours, or days, or weeks.

    "Crash" also connotes fatigue and exhaustion. "I'm so tired I'm gonna crash!".
