I am looking for a Spanish translation of the English phrase: "Jo recommended I contact you" or "Jo recommended I get in touch". This is for a business email addressed to a prospective employer (and yes, I would obviously replace the first name with estimado/a plus surname etc etc)

Well, it all depends on what are you saying after that, but maybe you could try

Me pongo en contacto con usted por recomendación de Jo.
