Spanish often uses the infinitive for directions like this. For example: "Eliminar los residuos."

Anyway, here is my attempt at the Spanish.

Aplicar selladores impermeabilizantes.
Pretratar los carriles de tráfico en la alfombra.
Eliminar el residuo de jabón en el baño.

That's one of the questions I'd like to have native speakers of Spanish answer. I see the infinitive used for the imperative all the time in instructions (as well as the 3rd person singular imperative, as you have noted). But I never hear it in colloquial speech. I wonder how it sounds to native speakers. Is anyone reading who can shed some light on this?

If you do things online in Spanish, such as banking (which is a great way to practice your Spanish), banking sites have text like: Realizar un pago. Hacer un pago. But maybe these are in response to a "what would you like to do" kind of question.

UPDATE: I talked to a native speaker of Spanish, who said the infinitive is fine for instructions.
