Hola. ¿Cómo se traduciría "held excused" en la siguiente frase?: "No," I said, "I am certainly not likely to walk into matrimony with my eyes open, and I do not think any man can be held excused who drifts into it."

I think this person is against marriage and it means that "I am not likely to get married, if I'm in my right mind" and "I think a man who does so casually, without thinking, has no excuse."
