    Default supposed to represent

Hola. ¿Cómo se traduce "supposed to represent" en la frase siguiente?: A creature extremely diminutive in stature and painfully lean in person, clad in tight trousers and a jacket covered with buttons, supposed to represent his rank as a page, answered the door.
    Gracias por la ayuda.

Creo que se refiere a la chaqueta que indica su posición o puesto como paje.

If you skip all the adjectives, the sentence subject is creature. Something like this:
A creature supposed to represent ....
    Therefore, the translation would be
Una persona que se suponia representaba su rango como paje .... Etc

Haha...you're probably right California but I'm not sure...

I read it like: "A creature...answered the door." In between I read that he was small and wearing a jacket that represented his rank as a page.

    Hi everybody,

I agree with vicente, though it is a rather ambiguous sentence.

Very true estafaniar. It can easily be interpreted both ways.
