Thread: ain´t it better than copy!

¿Cómo se traduce al castellano "ain´t it better than copy!" en el texto que pongo a continuación?:
"Oh! she´d cry; but we never let her hear. She´s a woman, and she does not understand, so we don´t vex mother -none of us."
"See you never do, my lad," said Mr. Waldrum. "Time may bring you many good gifts, but it will never bring you a second mother.
Ralph did not make any direct reply to this, but I saw the young rascal turn up his eyes and clasp his hands, and heard him mutter to himself:
"My! ain´t it better than copy!"

No estoy del todo segura pero creo que podría querer decir: Mi Dios! (a menudo se dice sólo "My" para no pronunciar el nombre de Dios en vano)... no hay nada mejor que copiar!
Sospecho a que la persona que está tratando (tal vez) de enaltecer la figura de la madre, de alguna manera está sermoneando al muchaco de la misma forma que lo hace la madre, y por eso él dice "copia".
