    Default Quick Translation please!

I know a little bit of Spanish, but I'm stuck and needing some help here. I was wondering if someone could give me a quick translation for this text from English to Spanish:

Rotating agitator hazard. Do not insert limbs or foreign objects into opening.

If anyone is willing to help, that would be awesome and I would really appreciate it!

    ¡Muchas gracias!

I bet you shouldn't be that literal. So, I would translate it as: "Peligro debido a la presencia de un agitador rotativo. No inserte ninguna parte del cuerpo u objetos extraños a través de la abertura". If you have a better idea of what the scope of a "limb" would be, you may use "no inserte sus manos/pies/piernas/brazos..." depending on which "limb" you may be prone to insert.

Yeah, being that literal probably wouldn't work. Good thinking on parte del cuerpo instead. Thank you!

So, I just want to be sure I understand the translation fully. This would be the direct translation back to English, right? (I also decided, objetos otros would work just as well as trying to say foreign objects)...

Danger due to the presence of a rotating agitator. Do not insert body parts or other objects through the opening.

    Again, thanks for your help!

You could shorten that up a bit:

Peligro!! Agitador Rotativo! No inserte los miembros u otros objetos a través de la abertura!

(Danger!! Rotating Agitator! Do not insert limbs or other objects through the opening!)

You certainly can! But remember that in Spanish you need to use opening and closing exclamation marks... Also, I tried to avoid using "miembro" as it may have a sexual connotation (as for "miembro viril") and would sound a bit funny/awkward.

A good translation for "limbs" could be "extremidades" if you are just referring to arms (and hands) and legs (and feet).

    What do you think?

    I agree with Estefania.

"Extremidades" is the best option to avoid misunderstandings.

Also, I wouldn't say "a través de la abertura", that's a literal translation from "thourgh", I would just use the preposition "en".

I thought about "extremidades" but it sounded too obvious; it is what I would use in English, so I looked it up...and my dictionary (Vasquez) says it is used for the limbs of animals. ???? What say you?

Gentle, your mind is in the !gutter!! (btw I am very careless about punctuation. Exxcéntrica used to chastise me regularly but finally gave up.)

LOL...me, too! I can't wait for the day when RAE will go for a more simplified use as for English!

With regard to "extremidades", it can work. It's not only used for animals, otherwise there would not be "extremidades superiores" or "inferiores" as they mostly walk "on all fours" . However, and although I use if for either arms or legs, I would not use it for fingers.
