Hi!

The Oxford English Dictionary has added some new words like "YOLO" (You Only Live Once). How would you translate it into Spanish?

I don't think OMG is as widespread as LOL in Spanish speakers' everyday conversations. Besides, LOL is easy to pronounce in Spanish, like YOLO. That can't be a coincidence.

I think eidjit meant ROFL = Rolling on Floor Laughing. In Spanish, it should be RSDR = revolcándose por el suelo de la risa.

I agree with Eidji. "YOLO" should remain as-is! That said, I have never used that word un-ironically, or outside of an academic context such as this. I should get around to doing that before I die. YOLO, after all. There, I did it.

Hola. YOLO tendrá un cierto nivel de popularidad entre los angloparlantes, pero entre los de habla hispana, ninguna. Por este motivo, no usaría el término sin traducir. Intentaría traducir la frase: solo se vive una vez. Y si tengo la posibilidad, pondría la sigla y la aclaración entre paréntesis. O encontraría alguna de estas variantes según las posibilidades que permita la traducción.

Hola! Quizás el término es conocido para algunos. Personalmente, nunca escuché a nadie utilizarlo en ninguna forma, ni oral ni escrita. Por eso asumo que la popularidad será muy baja. En la elección de la traducción creo que se debería considerar el grado de popularidad y frecuencia de uso de los términos en cada lengua.
