cultural question for all interested spanish speakers:

i'm interested in gangsters in latin american world. whatever their business is, whatever their history or family is, i want to know what different kinds of gangsters there are and have been through history.

i'm guessing that different areas have different words for them and possibly a different reaction to and understanding of their presence. i'm interested in all these things and your perspective on them, and anything you can say will help.

actually, i'm interested in both. any words you know for either are helpful.
