    Default se marchitando ser

s ser the correct choice here?
Here, in some of the best soil in the world, the stunted stalks of Dave Timmerman’s newly planted corn are wilting in what sometimes look more like rice paddies than the plains, the sunshine glinting off of pools of collected water

That's as best as I could do it.
Maybe someone can make it better?

    Some small corrections:

    (and piScina).

I'm not so sure about collected water. Doea it mean those pools were made to collect water? Or are they some kind of natural pools?

    Thanks for the accents moon!
I can't do them on my computer, not that I know where they go! That's my downfall...the accents...was never good in spanish or french....always knew how to write/read/say it, but never remembered where the accents went!
And ditto for catching that missing S in pool!
