Thread: Fending off teenagers' abuse

I'm not sure what teenagers this is about. This text describes a magazine shoot and it doesn't say anywhere it's in a public place so I don't know what those teenagers are doing there and what abuse they're talking about. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

The shoot was a nightmare. Two underfed models, one dressed as a tomato, the other as an orange, cold and cranky. The girls were fending off teenagers’ abuse of their fruitlike appearance while the photographer bitched about the time.

No queda claro, pero estoy segura que se trata de "abuso verbal", los que veían a las chicas en cuestión les tomaban el pelo por su aspecto de macedonia..jeje

Se quitaban de encima a los mocosos que les atacaban/tomaban el pelo por su aspecto...

Ya sé que teenagers es adolescente, pero creo que mocoso queda mejor en el contexto.

Quería una segunda opinión porque se me hace de lo más raro que en una sesión fotográfica con modelos haya unos pipiolos montando el pollo pero supongo que hay que dar por hecho que no estaban en un estudio sino en un sitio público. ¡Me gusta mocosos!

what's going on is not clear to us. you probably need to post the rest of it so we can tell you what's taking place.

Thanks Youwho I wish I could provide more context but I'm afraid this is all there is except a short mention to a guy who got lost on his way to the shoot (that's why they were delayed) which is not really relevant for the understanding of this sentence.
