    Default banks

    Hi Guys

Me again. This time I need your help with this expression, also taken from the Guardian paper:

Paulson and Bernanke have already yielded some ground, including an agreement that banks which benefit from the scheme must also rein in their executive pay. They are trying to hold firm against the tide of criticism, arguing that taxpayers already stand to benefit from the plan, as it will save them from the financial abyss.

I am stuck at "that banks which benefit from the scheme.....Of course I understand the words but not the idea.

    Thanks again, Guys!!!

    Hi diegonel,

The "scheme" refers to the proposed package, and if the package is approved, the banks that benefit from it would have to put limits on the salaries of company executives. I hope that helps!
