Thread: Keeping her throat in the grip of his hands

I need some help with this sentence:

He would seize her throat and advance, bending her backward, or he would retreat-it didn't matter- keping her throat in the grip of his hands.

could it be..." manteniendo sus manos aferradas a su garganta".

it is OK but lucks the force of the word grip...

You're right, I agree. But the two words "manteniendo" and "apretando" don't sound good toghether.

My humble suggestion:

"... con sus manos como garras aferradas a su garganta" (or "apretando su garganta")

María, but does it mean strangling her? I would guess not. One thing is to grip and another to strangle.

Agarrar us to grip, apretar, is strangling.
