    Default seconder

    hello! its me again.

does anybody know what seconder means in the following sentence:

"The new member (of the parlament), flanked by his proposer and seconder, took four paces forward."*

How would you translate it? el segundo?

*for the ones who havent read my previous posts, this phrase is in the book First Among Equals, by Jeffrey Archer, (Chapter 1, 1st page)

    Thank you in advance,

    Clarabe

    thanks!! a lot!

then the sentence could be translated in Spanish as: "El nuevo miembro, acompañado por la persona que lo había presentado en el parlamento y que lo respaldaba, dio cuatro pasos al frente"

    ???

thanks, I appreciate any comment on my translation

"The new member (of the parlament), flanked by his proposer and seconder, took four paces forward."*
