Thread: Need this translated from enlish to spanish

Has someone given you a price for this translation? Not sure if you know or not, but translators charge for their services like you charge for your services. Translators don't work for free.

You can try to do a trade for services with a translator in your area. I am sure someone would want to do that. Try craigslist.org

It is our job as translators to educate people that our profession doesn't do services for free. My friend is a union electrician and they tell him during his 4 year apprenticeship process that they are not to do work for free. Who expects an electrician to do work for free? Ours is the same type of skill, but applied to a different application.

This is a great forum for us to explain that translating from one language to another is a very difficult process and that the years of skill and training deserves compensation.

chp10_8 had no idea that translators charge for a service, even though it is a few lines. However, that small translation will bring the person thousands in income fromm the Hispanic community. A translator would not charge that much for that small job, but chp10_8 will know is was translated accurately.

I understand that... Of course, he didn't know, I don't argue with that. It's just that it's not the first time I've seen posts like this ones, and it looks like they're almost demanding to get their job done, than just asking for help... I know that not many people know that it's not easy to be a translator, but that's not the problem... It just sounded rude, that was all =)

P.S. which language do you translate? I do Spanish (my 2nd language) and Portuguese (my 3rd language but my favorite).

I'm (almost) an english translator... Spanish is my mother tongue =)

I do apologize for any person taking offense to my OP, how much would it cost to have my OP translated and what is the process.
I have a career just trying to help out a family member thats all.
