I normally avoid homework assignments but since you did most of it I don't mind helping.

This one is wrong. Escribe el verbo en el pretérito: ellos hacen.
You answered hice. This is third person singular "el hice". the correct answer is third person plural "ellos hicieron.

the last three are tú fuiste, nosotros estuvimos, and yo puse. Now go study and see why.

    Hola!
Disculpa que te corrija Detective pero la conjugación hice corresponde al pretérito perfecto simple de la primera persona del singular, es decir, "yo".
La forma para la tercera persona es hizo.

    Saludos!

    ¡Hola BNG! / Hi BNG!

¡Buen trabajo! / Good work! [Thumbs up!]

Me alegra que estés poniendo empeño en esto, sigues mejorando. / I'm glad you keep on making an effort in this, keep on improving.

Clarab tiene razón, HICE es el pretérito perfecto simple de la primera persona del singular: "yo hice". El pretérito perfecto simple de la tercera persona del singular es "él/ella hizo". / Clarab is right, HICE is the past tense of the first person singular: "yo hice". Sorry girls but Joel (El Detective) is right.

The question was "Escribe el verbo en el pretérito: "ellos hacen"

(NOT the preterite of the first person singular) and BNG said:

    HICE

and Joel said ellos hicieron which is the correct answer.

    Saludos amigos

    ¡Hola Vicente! / Hi Vicente!

Creo que es solo un ejercicio de leer correctamente. / I think it's just an exercise of reading properly.

El Detective le dió la respuesta correcta a BNG, pero su explicación estaba equivocada. / El Detective gave a correct answer to BNG, but his explanation was wrong.

    Fijate: / Look:

You answered hice. This is third person singular "el hice".

Perdón Vicente, pero esto está completamente mal. / Sorry Vicente, but this is absolutely wrong.

Espero que pueda servirte de ayuda. / Hope this could be of help.

I'm sorry, but it seems you are correcting what appears to me to be an obvious and minor typographical error...of course, Joel knows that hize is first person singular and needs no lesson in conjugation. He gave BNG the right answer and it would probably be better to explain the third person plural of hacer to BNG rather than tell Joel something he already knows.

    ¡Hola Vicente! / Hi Vicente!

Creo que que simplemente tendría que volver a lo básico y publicar toda la conjugación de "Hacer" en pretérito perfecto simple para evitarte más errores: / I think I should just go to basics and post the entire past tense conjugation of "Hacer" to aboid you more mistakes:

    yo hiCe
    tú hiciste
    él hiZo
    nosotros hicimos
    vosotros hicisteis
    ellos hicieron

Joel knows that hize is first person singular and needs no lesson in conjugation.
Así que, ¿¿Qué es "Hize"?? (¿Recordás lo que dije sobre un ejercicio de leer correctamente?) / So, Whats "Hize"?? (Remember what I told you about an exercise of reading properly?)

Puedo decirte que el primer error que podés cometer es asumir lo que otra persona sabe o no sabe. Yo no estoy en la clase con BNG así que no puedo estar segura si lo sabe o no. / I can tell you that the fist mistake you can commit is to assume what other people knows or doesn't knows. I'm not in classroom with BNG so I can't be sure if he/she knows or not.
Solo se que está aprendiendo, así que si vamos a ayudarlo, necesitamos asegurarnos que ningún eror es enseñado, sea que son tipográficos o por ignorancia. / I just know that hes learning, so if we're going to help him, we need to be sure no mistake is teached, whether are typigraphical or due to ignorance.

En mi modesta opinión. / IMHO.

    Jajajaja. OK, Laurinha.

First of all, I have seen Joel post enough on this board to know that he knows how to conjugate.

So, now you have caught two grammatical/spelling errors...first Joel's, now mine. Very good!!

Now let's see how you did in your writing.

    1. So, what's "Hize"?? (Remember what I told you about an exercise in reading properly?)

    2. I can tell you that the first mistake you can commit is to assume what other people know or don't know. I'm not in the classroom with BNG so I can't be sure if he/she knows or not. (and speaking of reading properly, Joel is El Detective, not BNG)

    3. I just know that he's learning, so if we're going to help him, we need to be sure no mistake is taught, whether they are typographical or due to ignorance.

I certainly agree with all you have said but I wonder if you have ever heard the phrase "People who live in glass houses should not throw stones."?

    Have a very nice day!!

Vicente: El Detective did not mean "hace" when he said "hice." He correctly quoted BNG's answer "hice" and then repeated the same word saying it was 3rd person singular. I don't think it looks like a typo, but whatever it is, it's wrong, and Laurinha was being helpful when she pointed that out.

The fact that you misspelled hice as hize is also not Laurinha's fault. How is BNG supposed to get a right answer if misspellings and errors are not pointed out?

Laurinha's English might not be perfect but she's here to learn, just like the rest of us. Her answer correctly dealt with the issue being discussed, and her errors in English did not prevent her from correctly clarifying the information that BNG was looking for.
