Good morning,
Would somebody know the translation into Spanish of "redundant" in this context eg. i was made redundant from my job??
The only thing i came up with was "desperdido improcedente" but it does'nt sound right, there must be another word.

I agree with questor. Check the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary definition:
redundant adjective (NOT EMPLOYED): UK having lost your job because your employer no longer needs you



E.g.: To keep the company alive, half the workforce is being made redundant.

Redundancy refers to the presence of some other person or machine that duplicates the service of the employee, therefore making the employee unnecessary. It's the reason for being dismissed.

En Argentina, el término más preciso y técnico sería "cesantía". Por ejemplo, "me dejaron cesante".

Hay que ser muuuuy cuidadoso por que a nivel jurídico no es lo mismo "despido" que "cesantía".

Hi Paul, "to be made reduntant" is a common phrase and a synonym for getting fired. The translation would be "despedir de".

I also agree with Cecilia that you should be careful not to confuse "despido" con "cesantía".
