Gracias, paulad. Mi padre murió ayer por la mañana
    Mi alma está ensombrecida.

In English: I regret being personal with a stranger, but this is important to get exactly right in Spanish, if possible. My father was very intelligent and accomplished professionally, but always aloof [distante]. He was never able to connect emotionally, even when he was alert and talkative before he died.

    Oh, lo siento mucho!!

    Mis sugerencias son las siguientes:

    - Siempre fue distante.
    - Siempre fue una persona / un hombre distante.
    - Toda su vida se mantuvo distante.

    Espero que sea útil!!

    Saludos !!!
