    Default “explicative”

    Hola todos

    alguien me podría ayudar...

    "
His name being used as an explicative."

The original line has an error---I believe the writer meant "expletive" and not "explicative."

    No, it´s correctly spelt.
I already knew "expletive" and it´s not this case...

here I found some further examples of the term, but I can´t find the explanation for it:

    • May also be used as a greeting or an explicative.
    • ...used as or in place of explicative during feelings of extreme...
    • Used as an explicative in a similar manner.
    • An explicative used when one is impressed or shocked.

perdón mariacecilia, no te respondí tu duda...

    me explico?

Expletive and explicative are two words that are commonly confused and therefore interchanged, but standard usage does not support this.

If you have a lot of confidence in the original source and if it makes sense in context, maybe it means something that provides an explanation.
