Thread: Fodder for satirists

I'm a bit stuck with this sentence, could you please help me?

"The verbal slap to the Venezuelan president came from none other than King Juan Carlos I of Spain, providing fodder for satirists ..."

Fodder is a term meaning a tpe of food for animals, so in this sentence, fodder for satirists implies that the action of the Spanish King will be used for making jokes and / or great material for cartoons, as it was embarrassing to the President of venezuela.

One could say forraje para el satíricos, but I don't know if this translates directly. Que' piensa Ustd?

Maybe the expression "darle pasto a las fieras" would work for you?

En este caso traduciría "fodder" como comidilla.
