"To improve the outlook for heart attack survivors, a team of Johns Hopkins University researchers led by Andre Levchenko, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering, is working on a biologically inspired nanoengineered patch to repair the damaged area in the heart. "

    THANK YOU!!!

Para mejorar el pronóstico de aquellos pacientes que han sobrevivido infartos, un grupo de investigadores de la Universidad de Johns Hopkins liderado por Andre Levchenko, Profesor (asociado) de la carrera de Ingenieria Biomedica, se encuentra trabajando en un parche inspirado en la nanoingenieria, para reparar el area dañada del corazón.

This is my attempt. Wait and see if someone has anything to correct about it. But I think the idea is there.

    Regards,
    J.

I think this will help you:

Con el fin mejorar el pronóstico de personas que hayan sobrevivido a un ataque al corazón, un equipo de investigadores de la Universidad Johns Hopkins dirigido por Andre Levchenko (Profesor Asociado de Ingeniería Biomédica), está trabajando en un parche nanoengineered inspirado en la biología que pueda reparar la zona dañada del corazón.

My doubt is the word nanoengineered, does it mean extremely small?

Thank you guys so much. Both translations were good. I apologize for not posting my attempt; I couldn't really get to translating it until today. My biggest doubt was with the nanoengineered part and the "outlook" in the first sentence.

    Thanks a bunch, and cheers!

Here is some other questions. I have translated this:

" *The first step in this endeavor is successfully growing heart cells in vitro in the right configuration. The heart functions as an efficient pump because its workforce cells – cardiomyocytes – contract in unison."

    My version in Spanish:
El primer paso en este esfuerzo es hacer crecer las células del corazón in vitro en la configuración correcta. El corazón funciona como una bomba eficiente porque sus células mano de obra - cardiomiocitos – se contraen al unísono.

    Doubts:
    1. How would you say successfully growing in the first sentence? (i left "successfully" out)
2 How would you say Workforce cells? (second sentence) I am pretty sure is not "células mano de obra"

    THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT!

    1. I don´t think that HACER CRECER is wrong. You could also say GENERAR. And if you want to mention successfully it could be CON EXITO(but I don´t think it necessary).
    2. It could be: El corazón es como una bomba eficaz porque funciona con el esfuerzo de los cardiomiocitos, células que se contraen al unísono.

In Spanish we use EFICIENTE with people and EFICAZ with things, machines, etc.

Thanks for your help. I agree with your suggestions for 1 and 2. But, out of curiosity, what would be the exact translation (including format) for number 2?

    Gracias!
    Rodrigo

hm... well, why not call workforce cells as "células obreras" then?

    obrera means = que trabaja.
