Thread: Federico García Lorca's quote

Hola a todos me conseguí esta frase de Federico García Lorca:

"La mujer no ha nacido para que se le comprenda, sino para que se le ame."

Y mas o menos la traduje asi:

"Woman wasn't born born to understand her, else to love her."

"Woman wasn't born to be understood, but to be loved"

Pienso que esta frase funciona...no?

I think it's talking about all women, not just one in particular. This is a very common use in Spanish (e.g., "La historia del hombre", "The history of Mankind"), to use the singular form to express the plural.
I'd suggest "Women weren't born to be understood, but to be loved." (It just sounds better to me.)
