Desde que el sol del doraba el paisaje el amanecer, hasta que el viento de la tarde llegaba jugueton a retozar entre sus árboles tipicos los algarrobos, el pueblito parecía una fiesta.=Since the sun guilded the landscape´s dawn until the evening wind came to playfully frolic amongst the trees.


Have I gotten anywhere close to being right?

Something more literal would be..."the village looked like a party itself", but I'd rather be a bit more creative understanding that we are talking about literature and not about some technical content. Hope it helps!

My purpose is two fold. The book, El Algarrobo Mágico, is a childrenś book that, along with others will be used by my grandchildren to learn to read and to speak Spanish. In the process of translating these Books and turning them into PDF files I hope tp learn the Spanish I, living in Texas, should have learned at least fifty years ago. As I complete this process I will also share the PDFs with friends that wish to learn the language. As I God through the páginas I will be posting the text to insure them being correct.

All sang as they carved beautiful figures using some branches of carob.

Venderé esta madera en el pueblo vecino, donde quién sabe porqué no tienen algarrobos-se dijo el leñador.
I will sell this wood in the nearby village, where who knows why they do not have carob trees- the woodman said to himself.

Casi sin darse cuenta, pronto todo el pueblo hizo lo mismo.
Almost without realizing it, soon the whole town did the same.
Almost without realizing it, soon all the people did the same.

Los piajenos, que es así como llaman allí a los burritos, cargaban todo el día la madera.
The piajenos (that is the way they call the donkeys there) carried the wood all day long.

Thank you very much. This doing great things for my feeble ability to read and to speak Spanish but one of my daughters is going to use the Books I work on with your help to teach her youngest sons to speak Spanish also, she has three under the age of 8.

I didn´t run off or abandon this project but I have the final stage of Acute Multiple Sclerosis and I am often laying in bed to defeat the pain.

My apologies as I am not English native, but I am pretty sure that you will find it suitable for some more creative writing with your own pen. My shot goes as follows,
Little by little the nearby trees turned scarce and the neighbors started fighting with each other when finding one after long strolls. Because of that, all dwellers got gloomy and tired out at that previously happy and hard-working village. And the desert surrounded their houses and covered its days with sand.
