    Red face Ronda

    hola gente,
    estoy buscando un termino especifico en ingles para traducir la palabra RONDA en este contexto

    la Ronda de Uruguay de Negociaciones Comerciales Multilaterales

    "Round" in ingles no me suena muy bien, me parece que algo mas como "Forum" tendria que ver. Que dicen?

    jworley, yo tambien encontre Round pero no me termina de convencer tampoco.........sin embargo en wikipedia lo traducen como Round.
    Foro o forum hace referencia a la reunion en donde se debaten temas de interes, tambien creo que se aplica al lugar en donde dicha reunion se celebra.

    Esperemos a ver si alguien mas nos puede dar su aporte!

    El término ronda es el adecuado. Además, si haces una búsqueda, lo encontrarás traducido en todas partes como: The Uruguay Round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations.

    Yo tuve la oportunidad de presenciar interpretaciones oficiales de este tipo de eventos y también tuve que estudiar estos acuerdos multilaterales en inglés durante mucho tiempo.Y Ronda se traudce como "Round". De hecho la traducción completa de La Ronda de Uruguay de Negociaciones Comerciales Multilaterales sería "The Uruguay Round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations"

    The term round is fairly common in the U.S. and is used in several different ways, sometimes to suggest an occurrence of something in multiples and at others to suggest something singular:

    a round of applause
    a round of drinks; also singular: bartender, give me another round (drink)
    a round of meetings
    a round of good/bad weather
    a round of good/bad luck
    a round of gunfire
    a round of activity

    It can mean an amount of; or a period of

    Thanks for that Vicente.
    In England we certainly have a "round of drinks", applause and gunfire
    and we could use rounds in all of the other phrases,
    but less so.

    I was thinking about ROUNDS sung in popular and traditional songs, like
    "London's burning" "Row row row your boat" etc.

    Yep, first time I heard the term, the same thing came to mind because we also use "Ronda" in Spanish when we're referring to those Rounds sung and played by children. Like for instance: "El arroz con leche" sung in Argentina

    Yes, we have songs like that here also. One that I'm sure you've heard is "She'll be coming 'round the Mountain when she Comes" Haha.

    I'm sure you both are familiar with all the many other uses of "round", most of which originated in Jolly Old England.
