    Default Question regarding my grandfathers name

    I have a grandfather whose name is Wilfredo. Does anyone know how you would say this name in English? Is it a common name in Latina America?

    Hi amayo: Wilfred. It isn't as common in the U.S. as it once was a few generations ago.

    No Amayo. I don't know. I cannot say how common it is. My experience is pretty much limited to Mexico and Central America and I have not heard the name very often in those countries but that doesn't mean it is uncommon. Maybe some other members can help.

    I have a friend that his name is Wilfredo, and we call him Wilfred-O. His nickname is Willy, but when we say his whole name we say Wilfred-O. We dont leave out the o.
