    Hola Pim

    FYI

"to have the gall" is very similar to "to have the nerve" to do something; however, "to have the nerve" has two very different meanings. In one context it means to have the courage, or to be brave enough, to do something. EX: I don't have the nerve to go skydiving; or Skydiving is fun if you have the nerve for it.

On the other hand, it is the same as "to have the gall". There are several phrases in which the two words could be used interchangeably. EX: You have a lot of nerve!(gall); What nerve (gall)!! The nerve (gall)!! She had a lot of nerve (gall) showing up at my party with my ex-boyfriend.

I would use "have the nerve of ... "

For example, " he took my car without telling me and then had the nerve of telling me that it was dirty ".

    Hola Salvadorm!
