idiomatic expression:hablar por los codos
i know that the british translation of hablar por los codos is
"to talk for England"
and
"talk the pants off somebody or something".
Does anyone know the american equivalent? (other than "talk your ear off").
i´m pretty sure that there´s more but i can´t remember.

In America you sometimes hear "He could talk the hind legs off a horse", or "has verbal diarrhea" although that one is perhaps juvenile and certainly crude. Commonplace is "he never shuts up", and you can also express the same thing by saying that when he talks one can't get a word in edgewise.
When the big talker is persuasive you say he could sell refrigerators to Eskimos.

Tambien se dice en Nueva Inglaterra que (cuando se habla de esta persona despues), "If you ask him what time it is, he'll tell you how to build a clock."

"Falar pelos (sete) cotovelos" a very known idiomatic expression in Portuguese.
Maybe "to talk nineteen to the dozen" can be one of the translations that suits "hablar por los codos", since it matches to both idiomatic sentences, Portuguese and Spanish.
Another one can be "to talk to a blue streak", as Thomas wrote it above, and I agree with this suggestion.
