Question Translate "Guantanamera" by Los Lobos?

Hi, I recently discovered Los Lobos' version of "Guantanamera". It's their own version of the song, so their lyrics don't match up with any other artist's cover of the song and I can't for the life of me find Los Lobos' lyrics.

If someone could translate the lyrics and post them in Spanish and English (because I'd like to learn both) I'd be very grateful. Here's a link so you can listen to the song.

    Thanks.

The link you provided required a login, and I balked at signing up. I checked another page, http://www.lyrics007.com/Los%20Lobos...%20Lyrics.html , and the lyrics looked pretty much like the same old lyrics to me. I know there are a lot of variations of this song. I don't mind giving you a little because I know it by heart:

Guantanamo girl: (I have never known whether guajira was used here to mean a country girl or a country song).

I’m a sincere man from where the palms grow. Before dying, I want to share verses from my soul. My verse is of clear green and burning crimson. My verse is a wounded deer seeking shelter in the mountain. I grow a white rose in June as in January for the sincere friend who gives me his hand unconditionally. I don't grow nettles for the cruel one who tears my heart so that I live - I grow the white rose. I cast my lot with the poor of the earth. The rivulets of the mountains please me more than the sea.

Gee. That's funny. That's the whole thing. I guess it's like spinach. When you cook a whole bag, there's barely enough for two.

    Hi gernt,
Guantanamera is a girl from Guantanamo. A province in Cuba.

Eso lo entiendo - es guajira. ¿Refiere a la canción o la chica?

Interesante Sandy.

    http://www.solvision.co.cu/espanol/P...ez_040908.html
