    Re: "I do not believe "burden" is used as a verb in English". Eek! But burdening is not used very much. You could say "it burdens us" or "ït is our burden to carry".

    You, of course, are absolutely right. Burden is a verb, as in "I won't burden you with this." It was "burdening" that threw me off---I don't think that sounds right at all.

    When I ask my Spanish-speaking friends about a word, they often cannot think of the meaning because I have the context a little messed up. It doesn’t take much to throw one off track. Once I asked about “colmo” and got a puzzled look. But when I said “esto es el colmo”, they knew exactly what it was.

    Gee. That was a nice thing to say. It isn’t always true. I do need to practice being mellow, though. My first grandchild is scheduled to arrive June 11.
