I'm doing a spanish to english translation and have run into a roadblock. It is a course description for a class about databases. I'm having a problem capturing the meaning of this paragraph, any help would be greatly appreciated:

Se pretende conseguir que la estudiante domine el concepto de base de datos. Se verán tanto bases de datos sencillas, es decir, con tablas independientes unas de otras en la misma base de datos, como bases de datos documentales y relacionales.
