Thread: Difficult grammar from a lady friend

I have two seperate sentences that I am struggling to make heads or tails of. I will be so grateful for any help.

Scott, si tu supieras por las que estamos pasando. Dios.

Perdoname si yo no soy una mujer liberada, asi me ensenaron.

Hi! This is my attempt:

Scott, if you knew what we're going through. God.

I'm sorry if I'm not a liberal woman, that's how I've been raised.

I think that's pretty much what she's saying. Does it make sense to you??

Why does it say "por las que..."---isn't lo usually used to refer to a general concept? What feminine plural noun is this referring to?

In this case it's the same, it's a way of saying it... It's a way of showing some emphasis, to say that they are going through A LOT of stuff right now... But saying "lo" or "las" it's mostly the same...
