Hi everyone!

My name is Paola and I've translating and subtitling for the past 9 years. I'm from Italy, where I studied Foreign Languages and Literatures and I'm currently living in the UK, where I went on to do an MA in Translation and Literature and am currently conducting a PhD on Literary Translation and Technologies. I'm here to share experiences with fellow translators and hopefully get some help for my research as well.

Thank you! Yeah, I've studied German and am learning Spanish at the moment!

Interesting mix! Do you translate all these languages into Italian? What kind of translation software have you been using?

Yep, I try, but I mainly work with English and Italian I use SDL Trados for general translation, as most of the clients I work with require it. What about you?

Yes, I'm based in the UK and my research in not language-specific, so I'm interested in hearing about literary translators' opinions on role and technology regardless of their language combinations.
My PhD focuses on the sociological side of Human-Computer Interaction in literary translation. Basically what I'm trying to do is asking literary translators about their perceptions of their role and their attitudes towards technologies using a sociological framework. I'm currently conducting a questionnaire aimed at literary translators, I posted it on the forum a couple of days ago, feel free to have a look at it:
