Thread: a needy artist

hola, todos.

i'm alex from portland, oregon. i make and publish my own comics, and i've begun researching a comic that i'll be writing for quite some time before i ever draw. it's about a small group of men, around the turn of the 20th century, who leave mexico to start a new life in the usa after a tragedy leaves them without their families.

these forums are an awesome resource! i'm not a confident speaker of spanish, but i'm learning. i hope to get help with the language but also with the history, culture and beliefs of certain areas of mexico. i've been to mexico and i keep going back, and i want the beauty and complexity i see everywhere there to be in my story.

i'm a total gringo, though--so i need help. i'm willing to do the work to make this story, but it seems as if a lot of what i need for my story might not be in books.
