    Default From India

    Hey everyone.

I am from India. I would be visiting spain in the month of july. We are a group of six backpackers. We are fluent with english but have absolutely no idea about spanish language. Please tell me how important is it for us to know spanish in order to communicate there with the locals will we face any difficulties in communicating???

Can you give me a good links of all commonly used spanish words in spain and there english translation so that i can be well prepared.

    Default Spain

    Hi!!

Spain is a country that welcomes thousands, probably millions of tourists every summer.

Anyways, you should have a basic dictionary with you all the time, since the language is very different.

In restaurants and hotels you will most certainly find bilingual staff, but the dictionary is always necessary (a pocket one).

You will always be ok! even if you don´t know a word!

I got to China with no idea! and people are great!

But, this phrasebook is great! you can get it everywhere, English-Spanish...

because you wanna talk to people...it´s more fun!

The more you speak in Spanish, the better off you are. While you would definitely be able to find people who speak English, people are generally more willing to help if you speak in their native language...plus you would learn a lot.

There are lots of good sites dedicated to specific words and phrases in each country, just try a simple internet search with "regional phrases from spain" or something like that.

Good luck and have a great trip!
