    Default new from Mexico City

    Hola todos,

I am from the US but have been living in Mexico City for 2 and a half years. I came here as an English teacher and have the most experience in teaching (in various places). I have done some informal and formal, but freelance translation work. I enjoy it and would like to try to build a steady second income out of it. Any suggestions from people with more experience is welcome!

I love traveling and meeting other travelers. If you are ever in Mexico City, drop me a line.

    Christina

    Welcome, Christina!
I'm sure that this is a great experience.
And are you thinking to travel for another country soon?

Thanks Ali. For now, no I am not planning on moving to another country.

I love traveling and moving around. However, I have done it several times now and it does get tiring. So, I'm taking a break and staying here for a while. Thanks for the interest.

    Default Welcome!

Hello, Christina. Welcome to these forums, I'm sure you'll find them interesting an helpful as well. I've been working as a translator for several years now here, in Mexico City (I was born here and have lived here all my life) and can tell you that there is an important translation market in here, though our economic situation makes it difficult to make a steady income out from translations only. Hope your stay here has been an interesting and enjoyable one.

    Saludos

    ¡Hola Christina!

My name is Sheila and I'm new to this site. I've been to Mexico City a couple of times and absolutely LOVE it there! I've always dreamed of teaching English in another country. If you don't mind, how did you get into it? What did you do to prepare for it? My biggest concern is that I'm a mother of a ten year old girl and I'm not sure that I'd make enough money to afford housing and care for two. Do you have any advise or direction for me? I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

    Sheila
