Hello,
My name is Hau. I just signed on. I live in Miami. I do not speak or write Spanish but want to move to Puerto Rico to live and work in the next month or two. I signed on here to try to learn Puerto Rican Spanish as soon as possible. I appreciate any and all help given to me and welcome any constructive critiszm to help me learn Puerto Rican Spanish for my new home. Thank you for your future help.

Re: New
Welcome to the forum, hau,
Although we do have members from Puerto Rico, our forum is not about teaching a language, it's about sharing information and other topics for translators mainly although we do help each other with certain translations, words, etc.
I would advise you to get either an on-line course or a teacher if you want to learn a language.
Anyway, said all of the above, welcome and perhaps we'll see you around.;)

SandraT,
Thank you for writing to help me learn Spanish. Is there a web site that you could suggest to me where I can learn Spanish? I need to read and write in Spanish to apply for a job in Puerto Rico. Again thank you for your assistance and information.

Re: New
Hi, welcome!
I donīt know any course in particular, but IĻm sure there might be a lot if you search "online courses", or even some material to start reading by-yourself.

Re: New
Hi Hau, I don't know if you're looking specifically for an online course, in which case I'm not really familiar with any, but in the past I've found the "Teach Yourself" series of language books to be helpful. If I remember correctly, the "Teach Yourself Spanish" book makes special reference to regional differences, which would be helpful in your case, since you're looking specifically for Puerto Rican Spanish.

Re: New
Hi Hau!
So, you don't know any Spanish at all? Well... I don't think this is something you can learn in a month or two. All the above suggestions are very good idea. You should try some of them. I think that you will start really learning the learning the language once you get there and start communicating with your new neighbors.
Good Luck and let us know how it goes!
