    Question Brazilian Native Needs Advise

Hello everyone! I am a Brazilian native living in USA for over six years and I would like to start a Freelance career in the Translation field. I have Bachelors Degree in Portuguese and English (as second language) and I have spent 16 years teaching Grammar and Literature in both languages in my country. Unfortunately, my degree and my expertise in both languages means nothing in order to get a good job in this part of the country (Arkansas). I would really appreciate if someone could give me some tips - "how to start", "where to go", "what to do"..., please! Thank you.

    Hi Mika:
Sorry about your divorce. Perhaps you might start sending resumés to translation companies and taking tests in the pairs you do. You should also start getting all the tools necessary to compete in the translation market.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
well, sorry about that, but you´ll get back on track, it´s just a question of time and perseverance.

You can start working as a freelancer, and little by little you´ll get steady work...

You will also learn a lot about translation software and useful tips in this forum!

    Good luck!

    Hi Andrea and Ana Laura...

Sorry that I took that long to thank both you. Lots of things going on. I just want to let you guys know that I have been following your advises in some areas. Unfortunately, the Trados is very expensive and it really doesn't worth the price. I have been reading the posts on this Forum, which has been very helpful. Thanks a lot!... By the way, go to http://www.eGianeli.com and check it out. I made it myself....Thanks guys! Mika
