Default The imported file contains fields. To translate them, replace the ....

    Hi everyone!

I'm reaching out to you, as lately I've been getting this error message while working with word files in memsource, regardless of the pre-editing work I perform before putting the file in memsource:
"The imported file contains fields. To translate them, replace the fields with text and re-import it into Memsource."

Did this happen to any of you? If so, can you let me know how did you solve it? Thanks!

    Hi Marcos,

It does happen to mean quite often. What I usually do in such case is:
1/ Compare both Wordcounts (Memsource and Word) to make sure nothing was left out.
2/ I do a pre translate of the file, and download the completed to check if no parts are missing.

However, I have no idea how to make the error dispappear. You might want to ask memsource support.

    Hi Malterio,
As far as I know, Memsource doesn't recognize texts into fields. So you need to extract them manually or convert the fields to simple text. But if you do so, you will lost the fields in the translated file.

I'm not 100% sure about the process. But I guess you need to activate the "Programmer" tab (maybe the right name is slightly different; my Word is in spanish). Then you have to switch to "Design Mode" and then right click in the desired field and go to Properties. Once there, you extract the text from the option "caption". I hope the attached file helps you

    Hi team!
Yes, I got that message too, no matter whether there are fields in that file or not. I think Memsource should look into this.
I guess this type of error came in at about the same time the other recurrent error message came in. The one we´ve been discussing here.

Thank you all, regardless of what I do I still keep getting this error message with many of the word files I upload into the CAT tool. Cheers.
