    Default The Holidays

Time sure passes quickly as we approach another Holiday season. Like many of you this is my favorite time of year. The cold weather, the warm feelings of holiday cheer got me wondering how everyone else celebrates the holidays? Please let me know if there is any special way culturally or spiritually you celebrate? I look forward to hearing from you....thanks!

I can't wait for it to start getting colder here. Unfortunately for us here in Miami we really don't have much changing of the seasons. We do have our cold days, although few and far in between. I am looking forward to that. For the holidays it is a very busy time for me and quite stressful especially now with the kids. Thanksgiving is not as stressful as Christmas however. Christmas to me is the most stressful because I'm visiting at least 3 different houses, eating 3 different times (because they will take it personally if you do not eat their food ), getting home and making sure the kids are asleep, and then its time to get everything ready for when the kids wake up. And then on probably 2 hours of sleep wake up and have just as much energy as the kids!! Exhausting!!! But well worth it!! It is awesome to see the faces on the kids faces in the morning.

I totally agree with you Kvillanueva. It is well worth all the stress when you see the faces of your children on Christmas morning. I have heard within the Cuban culture you celebrate Christmas twice. Is that so? If it is how did that come about?

Yes it is true!! Unfortunately for me my parents didn't celebrate the second christmas! It is in reference to the three kings that visited baby Jesus and brought him gifts. It is not as a big deal as Christmas, it typically is a just a few small gifts. But then again as the kids get older the small gifts turn into small but expensive gifts!!

LOL! That is so true. Thank you for explaining how the tradition came about. I think it's awesome!
