Todavia no se! What do people do here in BsAs for Halloween? Do people dress up and go to parties or what? If so, what do people dress up as here??

A couple of years a kid showed up at my door carrying a sword and wearing a black hat, a patch over one eye, a striped T-shirt.

"A pirate, huh?" I said. "Where are your bucaneers?"
The kid looked up at me and snapped, "Under my bucan hat."

I will probably do my normal thing...which is dress in a cheap suit and my glasses. It's my Clark Kent costume. Then it's back to Superman the other 364 days.

Surprisingly, Halloween hasn't caught on too much down here yet. Candy happens, costumes don't. Compared with the sloppy madness that St. Patrick's Day has become recently, I thought Halloween would be similarly successful. Alas...not so much.

hmmm, i m not sure either what i will do. I usually like to dress as my favorite fashion nightmare of the year, but that ends up being Britney most of the time.....maybe a classic like a cat or a witch....who knows!

    Default Not our usual tradition

We don't usually celebrate this day, though it's getting more common as time goes by...It's huge in London though...and in the US, I guess...any one knows where this tradition comes from?

It's big within English schools in Argentina, therefore you see Halloween themes being sold at fancy shopping malls.
Also, I hear that children go trick or treating in Gated Communities in the Buenos Aires suburbs.

Makes me wanna move to a private neighborhood, JUST to see my kid go "trick or treat!!" in a chicken little costume.

From what I understand, the tradition of Halloween dates back to ancient Celtic beliefs. October 31st is the day in which the separation between the living and the dead is the thinnest, so people offered food or "treats" to the dead- sometimes they would collect goods and take them to a town square... from what I've heard at least.
I thought it was interesting! How it got to the US? I'm not sure...
