    Default TM compatibility

Hi my Friends! A colleague of mine is telling me about sending me a job to review. He uses Wordfast and I've told him that I am not sure how compatible with Trados it might be. I've checked Wordfast's website and they claim to be highly (look out that they do not say 100%) compatible when exchanging Translation Memories with the exchange TMX format. Other colleagues have told me to simply try it out with the TM exported into TXT format. Is there anyone who might have some experience on this matter? Thanks in advance!

The problem is the tagging and segmentation rules. I am not familiar with WF TM and you haven't mentioned the versions of the tools, but you can import the TMX file to Trados, there is no need to convert it to TXT.

f you don't see concordances at the time you are translating you can always check out WF TM just opening the file and searching the segment by clicking Ctrl F.

Good point the one about the version of Wordfast! I am going to check that first, and then I might take "the road more traveled" :-) (i.e. the TMX). I'll keep you posted if I have the chance to get that job! Thanks Vizconde!

    Hello!
I would like to find out more about this topic, I have many translations done in Wordfast and want to migrate to Trados.
Gentle, I would like to know if you were able to have your friend share with you more information.
    Best regards to all,
    Guillermo

Unfortunately, I did not get that job; and therefore, I never had the chance to try this out. Anyway, you might try to use TMX and if it does not work, use Vizconde's way to go around it. Good luck and keep us posted! ;-)
