In fact there is a tool that works with Open Office files. If you want to work with Word files, you need to open them using OpenOffice and save those doc files as .odt (OpenOffice file extension). You translate themt and export the documents back to Word. It works nicely.Originally Posted by Veronica
The tool is OmegaT which is free btw.
I think TagEditor works with odt files.

Hello,
I'm new to this forum today and I'm in the mood to post.
I use OmegaT with OpenOffice quite a bit and I really like it. It's no frills and it's got a few annoying quirks. In order to cut and paste you have to use ctrl+x, ctrl+c, ctrl+v for example. And nobody really seems to tell you that you don't exactly "install" it, you install the java software and then you just open OmegaT without doing anything else (or you open it with the java JRExxx), making sure that everything is in the same folder or the path to JRE is correct. There are a few good tutorials out there.

I'm sorry, I'm a bit at a loss here... what is Omega T?
