    Default FRAMEMAKER (MIF) & WinAlign

Does anybody have any experience in alignment of source and target text coming from MIF files? If so, is it pretty similar to the job needed for a simple DOC or RTF file? Thx!

I would suggest you to create TagEditor files from the MIF file with S-Tagger, then you can start the alignment.

You can also try saving them as RTF or TXT, but I think is better the first option.

Thanks Vizconde! I did an experiment and realized that with the S-Tagger you end up with an RTF.TTX version of the file. In any case, it's different from what I had been told: to somewhat turn the MIF files into RTF to process them through Workbench.
At least, and with the RTF.TTX files I still have the chance to use TagEditor which might help preserve much more the formatting of the source file. I am still scared about some potential hazards, but I will try to test it and let you guys know about the outcome of this experiment.

With S-Tagger you can create either TTX files or RTF files(with tw4winExternal and internal).
If you just need an alignment you could also save the files as RTF from FrameMaker.

    yes gentle

you can set the STagger for either rft, or ttx.

so, you would do the alignment as with any rtf file, I don´t think you can do it directly from the mif files...
